Breaking Cover is a play development series that provides Albertan Playwrights with valuable tools to test their newest work.

Our six-week development process provides a director, cast, mini rehearsal process, and dramaturgical support to your manuscript. It culminates with a public reading in the beautiful Snell Auditorium at the Red Deer Public Library. The reading is followed by a moderated question-and-answer period with your audience, so that you leave with new insight into your play from the inside out.

Submissions run May 15th - July 15th of each year.

Submissions are currently closed for the 2025 - 2026 season and will reopen in May of 2026.
