Annual Opportunities
May 15th to July 15th: Breaking Cover Submission Window
Breaking Cover is a play development series that provides Albertan Playwrights with valuable tools to test their newest work.
Our six-week development process provides a director, cast, mini rehearsal process, and dramaturgical support to your manuscript. It culminates with a public reading in the beautiful Snell Auditorium at the Red Deer Public Library. The reading is followed by a moderated question-and-answer period with your audience, so that you leave with new insight into your play from the inside out.
Submissions are accepted May 15th - July 15th of each year.

January 15th - April 15th: The Carole Forhan Scholarship Application Window
The Carole Forhan Scholarship is available on an annual basis, in the amount of $1000, awarded to an individual who demonstrates passion, dedication, a solid work ethic and commitment to theatre, and who is moving ahead to further their education and/or knowledge in the area of Theatre Arts.
Applications are closed for the 2025 year and will reopen January 15th - April 15th of 2026.
