Air Raids & Siren Songs
Air Raids & Siren Songs is a musical revue showcasing songs from 1900-1940. Set in a British Pub during the summer of 1942, local pub-goers mingle with Canadian Soldiers, Servicewomen and reminisce to such great songs as "Sentimental Journey," "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" and "As Time Goes By." With a multi-generational cast of 14 men and women, Air Raids & Siren Songs is a slice of wartime life. The show performed around Red Deer in November 2017, culminating in our final three performances at the Scott Block Theatre, closing on Remembrance Day.
This show was an act of service by our cast and crew, honouring those who have served our country in the Armed Forces and those who survived the trials of that era. We included a performance for the residents and staff of Parkvale Senior's Home as part of our outreach to ensure that audiences who'd most appreciate this gorgeous music would have the opportunity to experience this piece of theatre without having to brave the cold.
Our fantastic cast included:
Dennis O'Brien - Alfie the Publican at the Rose and Crown
David Heikkinen - Soldier Bill
Reid Mills - Soldier Jake
Jason Steele - Sailor Gerald
Julia Van Dam - Air Force Auxiliary Corps-woman Emily
Kirstin Merriman - Air Force Auxiliary Corps-woman Etta
