Calendar Girls - A Story of Love, Empowerment and Courage

Set in Yorkshire, England, “Calendar Girls” is the true story of a group of Women's Institute ladies who made a difference.  When one of their fellow WI members loses her husband to leukaemia, they set about raise money to replace the sofa in the hospital waiting room.  Their courageous campaign gained world-wide recognition and resulted in millions being raised for the fight against cancer. This funny, poignant and inspiring production is being dedicated with love, to Carole Forhan - a great lady who has inspired so many.

Directed by Lori Lane

Following the successful RDP production of Twelve Angry Men, Lori directed Mass Appeal. This was another successful and acclaimed performance.

Lori's recent contributions to RDP have been her continued role as a board member, but also as a Co -Producer of RDPs last production, Indoor/Outdoor.

Whilst searching for a suitable successor to Twelve Angry Men and Mass Appeal, Lori decided it was time for the girls to shine! And, after a family member saw the show in Phoenix, AZ, and highly recommended it, Lori did some research, and discovered it showcased bravery, compassion, determination and a resolve that every woman demonstrates, often on a daily basis. And the fact that it is a true story cemented her resolve to direct this show.

It's important to point out that Red Deer Players wouldn't exist without the efforts of its' founding members. Amongst those founders is Carole Forhan; whose work ethic, knowledge and tireless passion for theatre, has touched all in the Red Deer Theatre Community.

This production is dedicated to our dear Carole.

March 3 will be an extraordinary event. This will be a special Fund Raising Event, to be held to raise money for the Carole Forhan Scholarship for the Theatrical Arts, and for the Canadian Cancer Society.
